Sublimation printing- one of the most popular printings in the world

1. What is sublimation printing

Sublimation printing uses an ink jet printer equipped with thermal transfer ink to print portraits, landscapes, texts, and other pictures on the sublimation transfer printing paper in a mirror image reversal manner.

After the thermal transfer equipment is heated to about 200 , the thermal transfer ink on the sublimation transfer printing paper will penetrate the substrate in the form of vaporization. So that the color of the image on the paper is sublimated and transferred to the textile, this new craft on porcelain cup, porcelain plate, porcelain plate, metal, and other materials.

2. The advantage of sublimation printing

1) The sublimation transfer printing has bright and rich graphics and texts, and its effect is comparable to printing. However, it can express the patterns more finely, with perfect practices and good feeling of three-dimensionality.

2) Sublimation transfer is to make the thermal transfer ink sublimate, penetrate the object at high temperature, and form a bright image after sublimation. Therefore, the sublimation transfer printing products are durable, and the image will not fall off, crack and fade. The life of the pattern is basically the same as that of the fabric.

3) That would be perfect for environmental protection, pollution-free, simple equipment, no need to wash, reduce sewage discharge. However, the design plate cost is higher. The production capacity is also much higher than that of digital printing, and the production cost is lower than the production cost of digital printing. The price advantage of mass production is obvious for huge order quantities.

3. Application scope of sublimation printing

Transfer processing: T-shirts, dresses, flags, hats, aprons, velvet blankets, heat transfers, bags, jerseys, cultural shirts, and other products. Bright colors, safe, and environmentally friendly.

4. The influence of material on sublimation

Sublimation mainly depends on the dyeing process and composition of different fabrics. Whether the heat transfer paper can react with the fabric dye is determined by testing samples. We can distinguish different fabric situations according to the composition.

1Polyester fabrics are generally dyed with disperse dyes, and disperse dyes are easily sublimated when exposed to high temperatures. This type of fabrics are mainly used on cycling clothes or stage clothing that require more texture. The color fastness is excellent, and the pattern is clear, and the color is vivid.

2Cotton fabrics which we generally call those fabrics with higher cotton content. This fabric is normally dyed with reactive dyes and is not easy to be sublimed. It is mainly used on sportswear and T-shirts. Although the color fastness effect is worse than polyester and the dyeing effect is also worse, you can still use cotton fabrics to print  simpler patterns that are not portraits.

3There is also a nylon fabric, and another name is Polyamide. This fabric is generally dyed with neutral or acid dyes. Compared with other fabrics, this fabric is not suitable for sublimation printing. During the high temperature in the sublimation process, The color fastness is extremely unstable, easy to color fading, and demitint.
