Polygiene technology

What is Polygiene?

Polygiene is a fabric treatment that uses a low concentrations of silver salt (silver chloride) that has antimicrobial properties.

This treatment is used in the final stages of textile production and field and laboratory tests have shown a high level of odour control throughout the life of the garment.

Polygiene’s silver salt technology is only active on the textiles themselves. Polygiene is not nano-silver.

Polygiene is applied to the fabric at the finishing stage along with other treatments. This minimises the impact on the environment as no additional energy or water is required for application. Polygiene application experts work closely with manufacturing companies to optimise the application process.

How does Polygiene work?

Polygiene suppresses the growth of odour-causing bacteria and fungi directly at the source. To do this, Polygiene uses a low concentrations of silver salt (silver chloride), which has antimicrobial properties.

Sweat is the body’s natural reaction to physical activity. The cooling and heat dissipating action of the 2.6 million sweat glands in the average human body is important to keep us working and feeling good. Sweat is natural and odourless, but when it comes into contact with textiles, it creates a warm, moist environment that is ideal for odour-causing bacteria to grow and multiply. It is the unpleasant smell of bacteria that causes 90% of us to lose confidence and 30% of us to throw away our clothes prematurely.
